Fall Fashion Preview: Shoe Trends

Those gladiator sandals that were so popular this summer will not help you make it through the winter. There are four styles that stood out as the type to watch from the runway.

1. Over the Knee Boots: These were seen everywhere. They were easily the most popular style on the runway, so it is a safe bet that these will start appearing in stores soon, if they haven’t already.

2. Booties: These alternatives to the over the knee style are much easier to fit and come in a variety of styles and shapes. These were also a favorite of designers, so don’t be scared to pick up a pair that you like!

3. Strappy Sandals: These styles may need to be used more for indoor purposes, at least if you live in a place that gets snow. However, they can be used to dress up a pair of jeans or compliment the dress you are wearing. Picture your summer shoe with a heel and you are almost sure to have this new trend.

4. Flats: Far less popular than recent years, they only appeared in a few shoes. Continuing to be an alternative to the heel, however, they won’t be going away until another alternative takes its place. This is probably the most practical fall/winter shoe, but may also prove to be the most difficult to locate. Hopefully you still have yours from last autumn/winter season!

Some more things to look for in shoes is the fabric and shape they come in. Leather is big this year, including suede. The popular shapes are rounded toe or open toe platforms. Don’t be afraid to take chances with your shoes either.

We used to envy hairdos, clothing or bags but now, the envy is on the shoes! We can't deny, shoes are hot and we love them! I love shoes and would love to have my own collection too! We can hardly say no to a hot pair lusciously calling out for your purchase especially when it's on sale. It's like dragging you to get inside & to come outside with it in a shopping bag. But what's behind all these fashion crazes that have deterred the purpose of mainly protecting the feet? Have they become soulful soles that define the personality or fill in the need to become the person that they are transformed?

Shoes can go far to telling what kind of person you are. Go and check a woman's closet. If she's into sneakers and rubber shoes, she may be the active kind whose first love is sports. The closet with all the boots of different colors and length may be to a woman who is very cow-girly but if her boots are amazingly well preserved, clean, free from dust or mud, she may be the type who is into runways. The office girl may have rows and columns of stilettos, high heeled pumps, closed or open toe types. That may not sound as in depth as how we ought to get to know a person but that's pretty basic.

Shoes have become less of the aid and comfort it provides and more of the source for confidence and authority. They create empowered women, glamorous fashionistas and famous personality icons. In the movie, "In Her Shoes," Maggie, played by Cameron Diaz, puts on a pair she finds very amazing when she went out to audition for the VJ slot. What for? Because she thinks it could boost her confidence and eventually land her the job.

Authority is another psychological boost that these high heeled pumps can manifest; that sense of authority that commands respect and regard. According to Shari Benstock and Suzanne Ferriss, coeditors of Footnotes: On Shoes, "It (high heels) raises the buttocks and curves the back, pushing the chest forward." Lazy bones and slouched shoulders are zeroed out. She is motivated to walk carefully, step down meticulously and stand painstakingly. Shoes provoke feelings of autonomy too. Women want to feel independent. When female sexuality took a toll on feminism, they want to wear high heels to feel sexy and powerful.

Setting aside the newly found esteem, there are health hazards that these high heeled shoes pose to our physical health. Like medicine with side effects, there are consequences too when it is abused. It could deform the feet, create back problems, decrease instead of aid and ease the person's mobility and we don't want chopped toe nails too.

We certainly don't want our shoes to represent the real "us." There is still more to the heart than your shoe collection. Society may dictate the latest fashion trend but don't bargain fashion with health. Whatever it is that would rock this season or next year, your shoes have a story to tell and for the most part, in the path that it has already walked.

Organizing your shoe closet

One day, you find yourself waking up to a beautiful sunny morning. You don on that fabulous business suit you bought the other day. You've been very excited to wear it to work and to pair it with your favorite stiletto shoes.

But as you opened your shoe closet, you're facing a stack of shoes piled on top of another. So you dug through the mount. You may have found those stiletto shoes but the next thing you knew, you've wrinkled your suit and you're late for work. Does this sound familiar to you? Or does this happen to you all the time? Maybe it's time to straighten things out and tidy up your closet.

An organized closet is not only pleasing to the eyes. It also prevents accidents to happen such as tripping over those cluttered shoes. Most importantly, it could save you time from searching for those pair of shoes you want to wear. Thus, no one would ever disagree how advantageous a well-organized closet is. Here are some easy tips that are easy to follow and understand, season after season.

Get your shoes together in one room. You must separate them into two groups: one, for those that are still suitable for wear and the other group for those that have already worn out. For the first group, you must distinguish which ones are fine and which ones do need repair. Separate the shoes that need repair and make sure to bring them to a shoe shop. As for the second group, you have to keep or throw them away to save space. You won't be using them anyway.

Categorize the shoes into two sets. The first set should be shoes that you often wear and the second set would be for shoes you seldom use. Then within each set, sort them by color.

Look at the pairs and try to remember if any of them doesn't fit you. You have to put them out. Secure only the shoes that you like and could wear.

Check out the number of pairs that has remained. If it doesn't fit in your closet, you may need to buy organizers such as bags that can contain shoes and that can be hung inside the closet.

Upon placing the shoes in the closet, lay the pairs that are the occurring season's favorites up front. Keep the shoes for other seasons in boxes and it's suggested that you print a picture of the shoes and place it outside the box so it's easy for you to identify the next time you search for something.

Something like we've seen before with an out of this world twist. Stylish and Chic is what I see in this collection. Im feeling the look but I know like you know not everyone can pull this off.

Y’know what? It’s not the fug of these boots that disturbs me – I can get behind a pair of distinctive boots that make a statement – WHEN THEY’RE WORN RIGHT. In what universe is it warm enough for a tiny strapless frock and giant woolly mammoth boots? Is she going to a patio party in the arctic? THE MADNESS! These boots might look really cute with some kind of boho-chic, hippie themed outfit, but I’m afraid I’m just not sure where she’s going with this. If I were to guess where she’s going with this, my answer would be Hoth.

What is the true definition of a "Stiletto?"

I have been doing some research within the last few hours to determine, "What is the difference between a "high heel" and a "stiletto?"

Well here is what I have uncovered thus far,

A stiletto heel (amE: spike heel) is a long, thin heel found on some boots and shoes, usually for women. It is named after the stiletto dagger, the phrase being first recorded in the early 1930s. Stiletto heels may vary in length from 2.5 centimetres (1 inch) to 5 cm (2 inches)or more if a platform sole is used, and are sometimes defined as having a diameter at the ground of less than 1 cm (slightly less than half an inch). Stiletto-style heels shorter than 3 cm are called kitten heels.

I also uncovered the reason why most women prefer stilettos which I found to be very true in most cases. See below:

Stilettos give the optical illusion of a longer, slimmer leg, a smaller foot, and a greater overall height. They also alter the wearer's posture and gait, flexing the calf muscles, and making the bust and buttocks more prominent.
